Good In, Bad Out: Journeyin g to Health & Wellness, the Pure Way
June 29, 2026
Betsy Exton, owner of Pure Health & Wellness, (previously Pure On Main) and I recently sat down to talk about how excited she and her team are about their move to their new Laurens Road location.

Lila: Why did you move off of Main Street?

Betsy: In order to best serve our community, we decided that a more accessible location with convenient parking and easy access was necessary. We are so thrilled to offer our loyal clients and future customers a more relaxed atmosphere in a comfortable and cozy house. We are so grateful for the last decade on Main Street, however it is time for us to expand. You can find us at 804 Laurens Road, right across the street from Home Team BBQ.

Our bodies are made to detox themselves, so once we get the stuck stuff moving, the body will push toxins out through the sweat glands of the feet. Because of gravity, many toxins, heavy metals and uric acid crystals will collect in our feet, so people often comment that their feet feel lighter after a foot detox.

Lila: Can you remind our readers what Pure Health & Wellness is?

Betsy: We are a natural health and wellness center that provides cleansing and rejuvenation services, education and plant medicine. Our philosophy is “Good In, Bad Out.” It is important to do both parts of the formula. We are so much more than a vitamin and supplement store, or a single appointment. We are a lifestyle. To achieve true health, it’s a lifelong relationship. You don’t go to the gym once and expect results. Likewise, you don’t do one colon hydrotherapy session, one wellness consultation, or a single foot detox, and expect lasting changes to your health. Therefore we offer memberships and packages, because we believe that true health should be ongoing, affordable and accessible to as many people as possible.

Everyone in our modern world is exposed to toxins on a daily basis and they often get trapped in the body. We all benefit from regular cleansing, then replenishing the body with the building blocks it most needs. However, detoxification is not a "one size fits all." Removing toxins from the body can be a delicate process where individual issues must be considered, and certain systems and organs must be cleansed before we can safely and effectively work on others. Our team of experts customize plans that are unique to each individual, and we design our memberships around what each client needs most for his or her healing journey.

Lila: I have been a fan of the Pure wellness consultations for almost a decade now. I have stories for days about various ailments that my family has had and healed from over the years, by consulting the experts at Pure. However, it took me forever to work up the courage to try my first colon hydrotherapy session. Now I go religiously each month. For the last three or so years, since I added the “Bad Out” regular detoxing to my regimen, I can definitely say that I have more energy, I never seem to gain weight, have clearer skin, and have hardly been sick at all. Honestly, I think I feel better now at 40 than I did at 30, before discovering Pure. Can you explain a little more about the “why” your programs are so effective?

Betsy: Our staff are experts in their fields. The Master Herbalist, and our staff with years of experience, are always available to consult on the “Good In” piece of your health and explore which vitamins and minerals your body needs. However, without using the cleansing modalities that detox and rid the body of toxins, sludge, and all of the “plaque”, as I mentioned above, the “Good In” piece is not as successful. There is sludge that lines the intestinal walls (this happens to every human) and builds up over time, which blocks the intestines from being able to absorb the “Good” (organic, clean food, healing herbs, vitamins and minerals). Without regular cleansing, your body is blocked from absorbing and using the building blocks it needs to regulate good health. Once the body is detoxed and more “Pure”, it’s able to utilize what it needs and function the way it was designed. It’s absolutely amazing how our bodies are able to heal themselves, when we provide nutrients and remove congestion.

Lila: What motivates you to get up and go to work each morning?

Betsy: My goal is and always has been to inspire others to believe in themselves & their own ability to heal & obtain optimal wellness. I believe that true “HEALTH” is mental, emotional, physical & spiritual. I get up every morning passionate about what I do because there is nothing more rewarding than watching our customers & clients overcome obstacles and reach their wellness goals. But we don’t only help people become healthier physically, there is a strong emotional element tied to our bodies and health. When someone rids their body of all of those toxins, sludge and plaque, there is often a huge emotional release as well. Healing the body helps heal the mind as well. And I pride myself on being able to provide avenues and support for the community to grow and rise above the challenges we all face

Lila: What can the community do to give back since you and your team have been helping keep us all healthy and well naturally for over a decade?

Betsy: There is definitely a symbiotic relationship between communities and local small businesses. We absolutely depend on your support. It is more important than ever to support small & local businesses. We always appreciate how our loyal customers use our services, introduce loved ones to the Pure journey to health with a gift certificate, and come to us for the highest-quality vitamins and supplements available. When you come to us with your natural health needs, you get individualized expert advice, along with the cleanest, most potent vitamins and supplements available. Unlike big box stores, Amazon, and other larger competitors, our products never sit in hot warehouses, and are guaranteed to be the real deal, from the best sources. We depend on each other, our business and our community, to keep each other healthy, and can not wait to see everyone at our new location on Laurens Road!

A Brief History

Dear Readers,

Back in August of 2016, I sat down with Betsy Exton at Pure Health & Wellness and she made the decision to become one of the very first businesses to sponsor North Main Neighbors magazine. At the beginning of that October, the first issue arrived in mailboxes all around downtown and the neighborhoods surrounding the North Main area. This was possible because Betsy, along with about 14 other local business owners, made the decision to invest in their community and help make this publication a reality. Today, over 35,000 residents around the upstate receive one of our nine monthly community publications, and we are able to offer integrated digital solutions as well to local business owners.

Countless neighbors, families, charities, and local organizations have connected and benefited over the years through these interactive magazines, and it would have ever happened without the local business owners who sponsored that first issue. For this August issue, I sat down with Betsy and interviewed her to find out why she has decided to move her clinic to Lauren’s Road and what it is about their customizable “Good In, Bad Out” health programs that make them so effective. She and the business she has built, Pure Health & Wellness, have been such a huge benefit to the health of our community, not just physically, but socially and emotionally as well. I am so excited for their new house of healing and the natural health expertise that they will be able to bring to even more people in our community with this new expansion! -Lila James, Publisher
